The "Army" is coming. Last year's Hootie & the Blowfish Celebrity Monday After the Masters Pro-Am Tournament attracted sports stars and the bad guy of the Harry Potter movie series. This year there will be many surprises too. Arnold Palmer will be coming, and Steve Spurrier of the University of South Carolina will also participate. The celebrity participants this year will include musician Steve Azar, Jeff Beres of Sister Hazel, Mark Bryan of Hootie, Dwight Clark, a former NFL All-Pro, musician Javier Colon, Andrew Copeland of Sister Hazel, former NFL All-Pro Bryan Cox, former MLB All-Pro Kevin Elster, Dean Felber of Hootie, Grant Fuhr, a NHL Hall of Famer, Ryan Haus of West Coast Customs, musician Josh Kelley, Mitch Laurance of ESPN Billiards, former NFL Pro Mo Lewis, musician Branford Marsalis, actor Cameron Mathison, former NFL All-Pro Jim McMahon, musician Meat Loaf, musician Jason Mraz, Scott Phillips of Alter Bridge, golf instructor Katherine Roberts, Darius Rucker of Hootie, NFL Hall of Famer Gale Sayers, Stuart Scott of ESPN, former NFL All-Pro Tony Siragusa, actor Kevin Sorbo, Spurrier and Gary Valentine, actor of "King of Queens." The 2006 professional participants are Woody Austin, Ricky Barnes, Brian Bateman, John Daly, Lee Elder, Sean Fister, Robert Gamez, Brian Gay, JB Holmes, Mark Lye, Troy Matteson, Jim McGovern, David Mobley, Arnold Palmer, Tim Petrovic, DA Points, Larry Rinker, Lee Rinker, John Rollins, Charlie Rymer, Mike Sposa, Kyle Thompson, DJ Trahan and Bo Van Pelt. The Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation was created in 2000, and the organization helps distribute money raised to S.C. school children in music education. Junior Golf Land near Columbia was built. Clubs for Kids helps youths get their hands on clubs. This year's event will be held on Monday, April 10, at the Dye Course at Barefoot Resort in North Myrtle Beach. Gates will open at 8 a.m. |
